Mastodon is a decentralized social network built on open protocols, and SoMePoster allows you to connect, post and plan your content to Mastodon. Since Mastodon is made up of independently hosted instances, you will need to create an application with an access token on your specific instance before getting started.
Go to Preferences → Development
Log in to your Mastodon account, then go to Preferences → Development.
Click New Application
On the Your Applications page, click the New Application button.
Set Up the Application
Add an Application Name, leave the redirect URI as is, check the read and write scopes, then click Submit.
Open the Application
Click the name of the application you just created.
Copy Your Access Token
Copy the access token shown on the application page.
Copy Your Instance Handle
Go back and click your profile name, then copy what comes after the @ in your handle — that's your Mastodon instance (e.g. mastodon.social).
Click Connect on Mastodon
In SomePoster, go to Accounts Connectivity and click Connect on the Mastodon card.
Save & Connect
In the Mastodon Instance URL field, enter your instance as a full URL — for example, if your handle ends in @mastodon.social, enter https://mastodon.social. Paste your access token in the Access Token field, then click Save & Connect.
Important: Your access token grants control over your Mastodon account — keep it private and never share it with anyone.
